Treatment for Anxiety and OCD at the Child Study Center
Intensive Treatments for Anxiety
We develop intensive treatment plans for children with anxiety, OCD, and phobias. Research has shown that increased frequency and length of sessions can be effective in achieving progress and reducing symptoms of anxiety.

OCD and Anxiety Explorers Program
OCD and Anxiety Explorers Program is a one-week “camp-like” intensive group Cognitive Behavioral Therapy treatment held each summer for children ages 8-13.
This program for children with intensive obsessive–compulsive disorder as well as other forms of anxiety, including social anxiety, panic disorder, and phobias, emphasizes the use of exposure and response prevention through real-world skills practice in the form of field trips that explore the exciting activities New York City has to offer.

Virtual Discussions - NYS Department of Health
These discussions held by the New York State Department of Health (NYS DOH) and the Rose F. Kennedy (RFK) University Center for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities (UCEDD) at Einstein/Montefiore are on children and youth with special health care needs (CYSHCN). After filling out this survey, we may reach out to you to learn about your family’s needs and experiences.
This survey should take about 4 minutes to complete.
You may take part in:
- A Virtual Group Discussion (accessible by your phone or computer) for up to 90 minutes, or
- An Individual Phone Interview for up to 60 minutes.
We are not offering services or programs. These are discussions about your life experiences.
Discussions will occur from April 2020 to June 2021. Those joining Virtual Group Discussions will receive a $75 Amazon Gift Card (one per family). Those joining Individual Phone Interviews will receive a $50 Amazon Gift Card (one per family). All conversations will be recorded for use only among the project team. Responses will be kept confidential.
Lowell Handler Project Updates
In spring 2020, Ric Burns' new film Oliver Sacks: His Own Life will air on PBS, featuring Lowell Handler and his photographs.
Oliver Sack's new posthumous book Everything in its Place: First Loves and Last Tales has a chapter titled "Travels with Lowell" about the time Sacks and Handler traveled together in the United States, Canada, and Europe.
The first film Lowell directed, Terefu and Her Children, is a documentary about a family of Ethiopian Jews living in Israel, and has been picked up for digital distribution worldwide with WGBH in Boston. It will go live in December of 2019.

National Awareness 5K Run/Walk
This annual run/walk is held in May at Flushing Meadows Corona Park to support Tourette Syndrome, Tic Disorder Awareness and the TS community. Every year the Tourette Association of America hosts this event to help make a difference in the lives of those living with Tourette Syndrome and we want you to be a part of it.
